A heads up to club members.... American Triple T OH opened for registration October 1 and this one is known to sell out early (and is known for its hills, difficulty and fun!). 3 Days, 4 Tris and 140+ Miles in one weekend! Shawnee State Park; Portsmouth, OH May 20 - May 22, 2011 It seems like a reasonable price all things considered and not too far away. I need to get on the ball and sign up soon. I have wanted to do it for several years now and I have decided 2011 is the year. Seems like I have heard some rumblings about others considering it around here....Brandon, Christian, ? Anyone else?

I am probably in. Hopefully I can fund it before it sells out. I was thinking about a relay but, it's kind of hard to find someone that won't smoke me on the run. I think a solo weekend will be fun. Does anyone know, Is there camping close to the race?

Camping available at Shawnee State Park. I had called down there a week or two ago and they said the camping sites have not yet been released for next year yet, but likely that would happen in October so to just keep checking the website. www.dnr.state.oh.us/tabid/788/default.aspxWe are planning to do that and camp high class or it hillbilly style in the RV!

I am honestly thinking that I'll be ina tent (with aveo backup). Prack and I did it for Musselman last year and it was fine...pending good weather i guess. I am also camping for Placid so maybe this is perfect training.

Registration for the Triple T for the past two years has NOT sold out like in the past. I didn't sign up until December each year. Of course that could change this year so why take the chance.
Camping spots become available at the beginning of the year. I got a great spot the first year then was lazy this year and missed the same spot. If you are camping get a spot early January.
Let me know if you have any other questions about race weekend.
I've got the clearance to race the half. Which means I could be a sherpa or T-Fan on Friday and Saturday.
I would love to hit that Half course with fresh legs.

Eric, good info to know as I know a few of people who are trying to come up with some pennies quick and could use a little time!
If there are site numbers that are better than others, let us know and maybe we can get a lot of us in that general area.

I plan to do the full weekend. Haven't signed up yet but will be soon. This was my first half IM back in 2006 (what was I thinking!) and my first and only DNF as I did the half only that weekend. The swim will be calm like glass, bike course is amazing, and the run is all on trails. You need to be prepared for this course both mentally and physically as the course is challenging and the weather could be HOT. It was 95 and humid back in '06 and the ambulances were coming into the woods to take racers off the course.
I plan to camp as well (which I did not do then) so any tips are welcome. Looking forward to this one!!

Okay...despite my comment above about the race not selling out very fast in the past.......there are over 750 people registered so far.
So what is holding you back? sign up now.

I was looking at camp sites. There seems to be many available. Has anyone reserved? If so, what location. Are we still trying to get a group together?

I have not reserved but was sort of waiting for a consensus as to what loop. We are going to be rolling large in a RV....woot! There looks to be a lot of availability right now. I think we should definitely try to group ourselves together! What loop should we try to start reserving (1-30), (34-54), maybe 69-90 ? Thoughts? Gibb, do you know?

How big of an RV Janet?
Loop 1 - 30 is near the entrance, beach, playground, theater, putt-putt. These spots can handle any type of camping....tent, pop-up, large trailer and RV. I stayed in campsite 8 my first year and was great, but it's already taken.
Loop 34 - 54 We stayed in campsite 45 last year. Spots 34 - 42 are good for tents and pop-ups. 43 - 46 fro pop-ups and trailers up to 25 feet. 47 - 54 are good for larger trailers and RVs.
I can't say much about the remaining campsites.
Being the weekend BEFORE Memorial Day weekend the selection is pretty good.

So I count 15 spots left on the loop 1-33. What if anyone who is interested all plan to try to get in that loop since it seems to accommodate all and close to beach?
RV is 25 ft or so I think... lucky for us Joey's mom does not have a dog show that weekend as it is hers!
