Well these are always a learning experience. I was hoping to improve by 10 minutes over last year. I "PR'd " by only 2 minutes.
I figured the swim would be average the bike average and I would hammer the run.
Surprise surprise I blew the swim by trying to stay wide of the crowd I was at leats 50 yards too far to the left at the first bouy which was a right turn. Then some how I was too far out. I got right next to the coast guard boat. They must have thought I was coming on board. So the swim was worse than last year. ( At least I know why).
The bike I improved by 5 minutes. I have doubled mileage in training this year. Done some hard hills with Ray Gurnick and had a bike fit by Greg at Spin. For whatever reason this surprised me to do that well. 22.5 mph was better than I expected.
The run was the real disappointment. I have really worked on it. For some reason when my mind said go my legs did not respond. I had done bricks the previous weeks and could run 7:20 pace off the bike no problem. When my mind said go my legs just did not. I have no idea why . 8:10 pace, I am almost embarrassed by this. I just can't figure this one out. Any ideas?
so I was slower on the swim but I know why. I swam alot farther than I should have. The bike a pleasant surprise. The run a mystery.
I guess an improvemnet is good but not as much as I expected.
lets hear more stories. Alot of people here got awards. Tell about it.

Mike,
Not much of a story, yet everybody watching got a good laugh.....
Coming into transition after my bike, I did not click out of the left pedal quick enough......... Right foot hit the ground, stepped with the left foot.......,and then bamm, I was flat on my back....... I slipped on the wet pavement........ Ouch!

Brian, you weren't the only one. It only got slipperier and slipperier.
