IM Lake Placid is next Sunday, July 25th. Online Registration for 2011 will open the day after (Monday @ noon, I believe?)
I'm gonna try and get in online.
So who else is planning on signing up?

Four of us (Erin, Brian K, Christian K, and myself) signed up after Rhode Island 70.3 last weekend (a perk of doing that race is getting an early signup)...so we are IN for Lake Placid 2011!!
It would be great to get a big group from Cleveland up there next summer.

Patrick, glad to hear you guys signed up! I'm going for it... after the ups and downs of half-ironman training this summer, I've come full circle and decided it's probably the best time to do it. But, that means I need other Cleveland people to sign up too (coughJencough)!! Leaving my fate to the online sign up...

After much consideration and some peer pressure, I'm planning to give it a go. Nothing better than doing an Ironman with so many other Cleveland folks.
I've cleared my schedule for the online signup.

Any tips for signing up? Just make sure you have a fast internet connection? Or, is it just luck?

Awesome group...keep..em coming! I know there's some more out there!!
Psquared - not sure how packed sign up will be this year (last year online registration was open around 1 hour I think). Only tips I have are: 1. Make sure you have an Active.com account. 2. Sign in before 12 and find the race registration page. 3. Have a credit card ready.
I remember refreshing the internet page until the registration button was active.....also my registration froze and I had to start again, but still got in.

Just curious, how hard was it to get in online this time? The last time I registered ('07) I logged on at 11:55 and just kept hitting refresh until it let me go through. And of course, it sold out in minutes that year too.

I clicked the "register now" button at about 12:01 and was able to complete the registration. It was a nail-biter to get Ryan in though - he had to start over and we kept getting an error screen whenever we tried the link (after I had gotten my confirmation). But, he finally got in, thankfully. I got a text from Jen P at about 12:55 or so saying that she had tried "a few minutes ago" and the general was sold out. It doesn't look like Paul Lentini got in, though he hasn't given up yet. I never heard if Patrick finally made it? I think he was getting the same error screen...

And of course, it sold out in minutes that year too. I didn't check what time it officially Sold Out because I registered then went out to lunch for a celebration (last meal sort of thing). At noon on my cell I clicked on Ryan's link above (thanks!) and clicked register. Each subsequent page took several minutes to load, think there were 3 pages in total. I wasn't fully registered and paid until about 12:12. I wouldn't consider that too bad, it just required some patience - not sure of the internet speed here, I had to do it at a remote location in North Carolina for work. I had a few idiots at work try to interrupt me with "work questions" but I "shoo'd" them away.

Hey Phil,
Tell your boss to leave you alone. You have important stuff to do.

I forget that Eric knows my boss : )
They have NO idea. Figures no one would bother me all day but at 12:01 PM today I had 2 or 3 people in my cube wanting to talk!

Anyone know anyone who can get me in. Short of paying 1080 for a multisports training package or 1100 for a community spot I'm screwed!
Unless someone has an extra 500 they want to give me. Call it a "sponsorship" if you'd like.
