Lets hears some Turkey Trot Stories.
it was a blast. I did not even know this existed a year ago. Mark D. and Matt C. told me I need "Race Experience"
I did not think I would like a run race since running is my worst part of Tri's.
My Goal was 37:30
I did it in 36:58 7:23 pace 21 st out of 160 in my age group.
This is 3 minutes better than in September. It is the first race where I did what I expected to do.
I am not up to Aussie Rob or the Durnomater but I have improved every race.
I just dig this "race culture" It was cool to see so many from the CTC. I think I saw about 12 people.
I have never been in a race with so many people. kind of mind boggling.
Any way. Great day
Any more of these this year?

Reindeer Run is just around the corner. Check Hermes Cleveland for local events; there are lots.
My report? I PRed by a couple of mins and finally beat Durno in a running race, but still not fast enough to crack his PR on the distance. Much work still to be done.
Was cool to see those that came out to run. Fun annual event. Beers after were welcome. And Collister is much bigger than i remember.....don't make him angry or i fear he'll turn green.

I like the new course, which passed such hallowed Cleveland landmarks as the Crazy Horse saloon and Bada-Bing gentlemens' club.
Rob--smart choice to comment on MY size increase.

Matt, I was thinking the same thing about Rob's "Collister is bigger" comment! LMAO!
Personal worst for me as a runner, but personal best as a pregnant runner! I had an entourage keep me company, which just rocked!

Mike - Excelllent progress. Glad to here the advice (and the speed work) is working.
Aussie, Christian K., Bryan P., Patrick K., Bill B., and I were milling around the start line and I was asking folks what their race strategies were. After we all agreed that it was strictly survival 'cause none of us are in any type of race shape, Aussie said that he planned to "Kill It" early and hang on. I decided I'd try to maintain a consistent pace across all five miles. So, like any competetive bastard, I made him a little wager - that I would catch him during the race. Winner gets a beer at LVT after the race from the other. Long story short - Aussie went out like a bat-of-o-hell, but I kept him in my sights as he continued pulling away for the first mile. I drafted Patrick the entire first mile 'cause he mentioned that he was going to run 6 min miles. During miles 2 and 3, we slowly realed him in and caught 'em. I completely ran out of gas at the 3 mile mark. Patrick ran away from me. I ran with Aussie for about a 1/2 mile, then he says "let's go". I replied "You go. I'm done!". His young legs (and terrible form - hehe) took off. Yet again, I realed him back in on the big hill, then said "screw it, I'm done AGAIN" and let him go (lost by 30 seconds).
So, at the end of the day, the bet was that I would catch him - I didn't necessarily have to win the race. Being the good sportsman that he is, he agreed and bought me a beer. Of course, I returned the favor while we were throwin' em back ! Great day. Thanks to Bill, Scott, and Mike for the post race cool down run.
Big props to Patrick for winning his age group in a race that big. VERY NICE !!
Bigger props to Jen C. for staying in shape during her pregnancy.
Good to see y'all out there !! I'm just glad I got my glove back...

Well standing there at the start line knowing I just raced a half 4 days earlier and I was rather sore and christmas aled, I decided to pick on what appeared to be a weakling. I'll sum her up at 4" 10" 88lbs. 8th or 9th grade at best. I needed to attempt to feel good about my running and this was my only chance. Right from the start she must have felt the target on her back because she was gone. After several painful miles i started to reel her back in. It didn't take long. As the remnants of the prior evenings xmas ale started to take hold she dropped me and my ego. Well at least she beat Prack too, Right? However, being the model athlete that I am, I did drink her weight in xmas ale not 35 minutes later. So who's the winner now!?

I did the Tampa Times Turkey Trot along with 15,400 other runners on T-Day. The better run was the following Saturday for the Autumn Fest 5K in Safety Harbor, FL. This was a nite run that started at 7:00 PM. At the finish line was 14 kegs of craft ale provided by the Oldsmar Tap House along with Brat's & Saurerkraut and German Potato salad.
Had to come home a dry out with a couple of Xmas Ale's
