Angie ran the Wineglass Marathon yesterday with a finish time of 3:47:11.
Believe it or not this was her first marathon.
An 8:40 average pace took her to a great finish on a beautiful course.

Thanks eric---- beautiful and amazingly supported race. I would highly recommend it. This year they had a 45% increase in the number of participants.. up to over 1500. Nice to see this race doing so well. The course was flat to gradual downhill which makes it fast but my quads paid for it in the last 6 miles or so. One short little uphill and a few gradual slow grades up. Overall the race dropped about 200 ft. My quick recap.... I felt great for the first checkpoint at 8 miles. Avg 8:13 min/mile (too fast)-- it felt too easy. The scenery was amazing... rolling horse farms and fall leaves. At the second checkpoint (mile 18) , I was starting to feel quad muscle damage--- tingling and a tad of pain with each pavement contact--- At this point I thought "this is going to get interesting". I was gradually slowing- Avg. 8:42 min/mil At mile 21 or so there was a little downhill and I had to concentrate not to scream out--- ouch. My mantra at this point was keep moving... do not stop.... do not slow.. fast and light. I gutted it out as best I could--- it took ALL my willpower. At the 26 mile mark we had to run over an overpass to the finish. As I finished I knew I might fall... luckily my husband was right there. I have never felt my legs like this... completely trashed. I sat down on a bench after a while and then I could not get up. After 3 attempts... I made it to the standing position. What a great experience....even with the pain. Ended up 12/55 in my AG. Overall I was happy with my time and it was a great race. Thanks to my coach, Lloyd Thomas, for getting me prepared and there. I could have not done it without him !! Check it out. Apparently, I qualified for Boston in 2011... I will be 40 then and the qualifying time is 3:50. Wineglass lets you qualify for 2 years. I will have to think about that.
