Is anyone running next weekend in the Road Runner Marathon?
Has anyone done it in the past? How is it hilly / flat?
I'm doing the half.

I spoke with the race director, and read a recent article about it somewhere... hmmm... anyway: HILLY Straight from the horse's mouth. I am doing my first mary ever and wanted a flat course. The RD said, nope, HILLY! I ultimately chose Columbus.

I've run there a number of times - is the course hilly - yes - but if your running the half you will avoid the major hills leading into and out of the valley and down Market Street -
Tiffany - Columbus will not be as hilly but it does have a few climbs to it as well

I'm feeling a little sad I'm not running this year...I'll be peddling around Akron that morning instead. Yep, lots of hills...mostly rollers and also some false flats. Worst hill of the day IMO comes right after the 1/2 mary runners split from the full, around mile 11 probably. On the open highway the climb is long and steady, then a shorter steep descent back to downtown. They you are home free and are rewarded for your efforts in the stadium Have fun! This is a really great event!

In for the full. Hilly course. The section from about 15 thru 22 is not big hills but generally uphill the whole way. but on the half course you won't get that you'll have rollers. The stadium finish is really sweet... and free beer not great beer but free
Brandon they have rerouted the course this year off the highway onto the new section of towpath.

pacing the full 3:40 group. I paced the 3:50 group here last year and while there are some hills, I love the course. Lots of shade, and plenty of downhill and flat mixed in to keep your legs guessing. I don't think this course is any harder than Cincinnati or Boston and the stadium finish and goodies are well worth a few hills. Just make your goal realistic, if you don't train on hills plan to be 4-5 minutes slower for the full, 2-3 for the half than you would be on a flat course, if you train on hills go for your goal time.

ps for the full there is a nice decline the last two miles here so as long as you haven't trashed your quads you can make up some time in those final two miles.

Flat and fast--ends at the same altitude from which it starts. My marathon PR.

I'm running as part of a relay team - I have the 2nd and 3rd legs. It appears that I'll have a net downhill...woohoo!! Hope to see some of you at the finish!

I will be out there for the full again. It is a difficult course, but a great variety in terrain to keep you interested. Good luck to everyone out there today!
