I was wondering what gym you guys/girls belong to. My membership ends in Oct. and looking to go somewhere else.
I see that Euphoria is one of the sponsors of the site, but I'm looking for something with a pool. I live in Parma so I don't really want to far of a drive in the winter.
thanks in advance

I use the YMCA ... look for one near you. It's cool b/c you can use any Y once you are a member. It's way more affordable than Bally's, which is another option, depending on whether yours has a pool. I think our Y rocks!! I use Willoughby and Painesville (less often) depending on the swim schedule. When I lived in Parma, I used Omni Fitness ... only I can't recall if they had a pool!!! That's my chime

I use the West End Y for weights and I've swam there for years. I swim a lot at CSU too, either with masters or as Jen's guest - she's a member. I prefer the Y over CSU for weights, though.

Haven't been there since I moved 7 years ago, but Omni at W130th & the parkway was great, with many triathletes as members. Use the city community center now.

If Middleburg Heights isn't too far, I used to go to LifeWorks of Southwest General (7390 Old Oak Blvd) and thought it was an awesome place (clean, high tech, and all workers had 4 year exercise science degrees).

lessthanmike,
I have been going to the Omni Fitness Center for the better part of the last 20 years. It was once a world class facility that attracted world class athletes such as Michael Jordan, MIke Pigg, Hulk Hogan and others, but as of the last few years it has really lost its edge. The silent owners daughter now has control and by the fairly large exodus of members her managerial skills seem to be lacking. Personally I haven't attended there for roughly a year so I am unsure if things are still on the downturn. Furthermore, the pool at the Omni is nice, it is a short course meter pool so you wouldn't have to convert yards to meters. One drawback is that it is geared toward water aerobics and elderly programming so the water temp is nearly always 84-85 degrees. I hope this answers some questions for you.

I'm a member of 5 Seasons in Westlake. Pretty sweet gym, lots of treadmills with no bs 30min time limit, and the outdoor pool area in summer is the nuts.

Lifeworks of Southwest General is a great facility -- I've been a member for almost 2 years. Never too crowded, in the gym area or the pool, and a decent monthly membership rate.

i have to say i have been training at the omni for awhile now. they have many brand new treadmills, that are fast and nice to run on. the spin classes are free, and you can spin on your own if you would like. the pool is a great 25m pool. a bit warm but that is great in the winter. i have also hooked up with some fun people to trsin with there. i would recommend it highly.

I have also been a member of the Omni for some time. (15+years)And while it is true that the membership has decreased due to both economic and non-economic reasons there still remains a solid core of multisport athletes who train regularly in both group and individual settings. We meet regularly 2-3 times per week for swim workouts and runs. I personally start my rides from the Omni and meet up with the rest of our group in the Metroparks. The facility has alot to offer; it is what YOU make of it. Hope you give it a try.

If you are just looking for a cheap pool, check out Brooklyn Rec. They have 2 treadmills and very limited weights. Depends what you are looking for.

Center last year. $375/year for non-resident and seems very well equipped. www.sevenhillsohio.org/departments/rec-center/membership.aspx
