The club was just contacted by the Akron Marathon to inquire about potential volunteers. This is a great opportunity to give back to the endurance sports community! Details below:

Dear Friends:
You are needed as a volunteer for the 7th annual Road Runner Akron Marathon on Saturday, September 26, 2009. Each year since 2003 the Road Runner Akron Marathon has hosted an international, world-class marathon, half marathon and team relay race the last Saturday in September. They have made it their mission to promote health and fitness and bring national attention to the greater Akron area. Volunteers are a valuable resource for this event. As a volunteer for the Road Runner Akron Marathon, you will have the opportunity to make a significant contribution to your community, to meet new people and to share your skills and talents. The truth is that it’s the volunteers who make the race such a wonderful experience for the runners!
They are looking for groups, as well as individuals, to volunteer on either Friday, September 25, 2009 at the Health & Fitness Expo, or on race day, Saturday, September 26, 2009. Opportunities to volunteer on race day include: course support, finish line and Kids Fun Run. To register to volunteer, please visit www.akronmarathon.org.
Also note:
If possible, please plan to attend one of our volunteer trainings held on Saturday, September 12th (10:00 a.m. at Lock 3) or Wednesday, September 16th (6:30 p.m. at Lock 3).
