i did the carnation festival oly tri this sunday and only saw a few ctc members, probably due to the competition of available races this day. it was a great day for a race and a very well organized one as well despite the challenge of a one way bike (t2 is actually 27.5 miles away from t1). the bike course was a little bumpy at first with chip and seal roads and one section of dog patch but was well marked by the volunteers and police. I wore my garmin for the bike and run and was almost positive there was going to be a few hundred feet more of climbing than descending but it wasn't too bad 1438 feet of climbing with 1208 descending over 27 mi. i only remember 2 short hills I had to power up the rest just felt like a steady grade. the run had some hills and a lot of turn but the people in alliance were out in force with a volunteer at almost every corner and I think 5 water stations and at least 2 homeowners with garden hoses to help you beat the heat. if anyone is looking for a nice low cost oly tri for next year this is a great choice maybe not he easiest choice but a well done, safe and fun race.

sorry I missed you there. I agree this is a great little race, and for the price a great bargin. randy does a nice job with the point to point logistics and the subway sandwiches are a nice treat...I snagged some for my kids as I'm a veggie now a days.
