...just got this in my email, something to be aware of for the OW race on 7/25. What are you guys going to do? ------------------------------------------------------- Please be advised there is a swimming Advisory at Edgewater State Park at this time. This means the Ohio Department of Health suggests that swimmers stay out of the water. More information may be found at... www.ohionowcast.info/nowcast_edgewater_2009.aspIt is possible that by Saturday the Advisory will be cancelled. Whether the Advisory is on or off, the swim meet will go on. Each swimmer must decide for him or herself as to whether to swim or not. There will be no refunds. Expenses have been incurred which must be paid most notably in the purchase of event t-shirts. In a modest attempt to make things right, we will mail an event t-shirt to each swimmer who does not check-in for the event. Looking forward to seeing you Saturday. I am going to make the decision tomorrow morning. Angie is right, it is looking like there should be some time for the conditions to improve. Hopefully we don't get anymore heavy rain before the race.
Most likely the biggest thing to watch will be the turbidity tomorrow. If the seas kick up they will likely "stir up" the bacteria that is settling on the bottom of the lake. High turbidity after 3 days of rain = no good. Maybe the RD will wait until they take the reading in the morning?

Suck in enough of the stuff and you're going to get sick, no matter what the bacteria count is.
I kinda' think these advisories are hype.
