I'm racing the Oly at Chicago. I'm totally psyched...got a couple friends who are also doing it, live there now but from here. We need to represent C-town well!! We're staying at the Hyatt Regency on Whacker...maybe a mile from transition...where's the embassy suites and Hilton?

Pat, On Friday, a few of us will be going to one of my favorite restaurants in the city. It's called Cafe 28 on Irving Park & Damen (near where I used to live). Great Cuban restaurant with the absolutely best pork chop I've ever tasted. Even if you don't typically eat pork (which I don't, this is the best). You're welcome to join us. Just let me know.

Ah, I see...it's on Blaboa. Is this where it all goes down...ie. the place to be if racing? Or maybe the Embassy since you've been 5 times now. Any thoughts on this...otherwise, Hyatt Regency has some good rates, save about $50 a night vs. Hilton. BUT if the Hilton is the place to be I'll spend the extra $$ and stay there. thoughts??? I'd love to meet up...since I have no idea who you are and always up for meeting races around this area. Adam

This is my 5th time doing this race. I think that I've honed my race day strategy. I stay either at the Sheraton or Embassy Suites just across the river. The Hilton is good as well but perhaps a little small. You can cram a bunch of folks into the Embassy Suites rooms for about the same price. The benefit of the Hilton is that it's a tad closer to the finish line for family to walk to but it's a little bit farther from the transition area than the hotels along the Chicago river. On race day, I get up around 0430 and ride over to the transition area. Set up my stuff then hail a cab back to the hotel where I go back to sleep until 7:30 or 8 (or approximately 45-60 minutes before my start time). Will take a cab which drops us off right by the swim start and go race. Email me if you'd like to meet up on Friday or Saturday night.
