Today I did my first Tri ... in 20+ years. It was a sprint tri and I felt pretty prepared. I've been running really well and feel stronger than I've ever been. I'm a strong swimmer ... or at least I WAS. The OW swim KICKED I disagree ... I was woefully unprepared! I've done some swimming in preparation for my upcoming tris, but it's no comparison. I swam in HS, College, was a lifeguard for several years, and very active with Master's swimming in the mid 90's ... but today you'd NEVER KNOW IT! I did 85% of it breast-stroke because I took a huge gulp of water right at the start and was sucking wind to try to recover from that. Wow, I need to get my butt in that lake (I live 1/4 mi from Lake Erie in Mentor on the Lake - shame on me!) ASAP. WOW - never saw this coming. I'm humbled. Said hi to another CTC member - told her I was mostly a quiet forum stalker. She was pretty friendly Angie, I believe. Anyway, time for some OW training ... starting tomorrow. I. am. exhausted.

That Lorain swim can be tricky even in the best conditions with the rollers it gets around those rocks. At least ya got 'er done. The next one will be better because YOU will be better prepared ! Nice work. md

Oh, it kicked my butt too. I don't have the swimming background that you do, but I also didn't expect it to be so hard! I begged the girl in the kayak to take me out but she wouldn't listen. Which, of course, turned out to be a good thing because I finished the race. But just think - it should be easy to beat that time in the next tri!!

Great job to the both of you. Fear is a horrible emotion. It can suck the life out of you. Now you are both better prepared for the next race. Huntington anyone?

Did my first real OWS Friday at Columbia Beach, Bay Village. Seriously set back my confidence. Waves were really rough, nauseating, I felt like a rag doll! Training for Linwood Park Sprint, Vermilion.
