He's one of the toughest triathlete's I know, as far as I know he has never DNFed due to a personal injury. The run course is brutal, lots of jumping from boulder to boulder.
This is one reason they tell you to wear something on your feet during the swim in Richmond. There are all kinds of things in that river from fish hooks to cival war remnents, of course very few people wear anything because it will slow you down.
My 1st year there, both of my knee's got skinned up from the VW size boulders in the water just below the surface.
