Okay, another newbie question ... should I (or even, Can I???) wear a wetsuit in the swim at this tri? I have one (never used it yet) but am unsure as to whether to use it for this race or not?

Yes, you can wear a wet suit for this tri. Today the water was warm enough for people to swim without them. If you have NEVER worn one, you might not want to try that out for the first time in a race though.

Kim, I figured I'd do just as I always do and jump right in - first time and all. This tri is my attempt to get my feet wet by getting back into tris anyway, and to get a feel for the bigger ones I'm doing in 2 mos. I suppose I'd rather wear it if most swimmers wear one, and not, if not. "I just want to fit in"!!!! LOLOL I think there is a fair chance I will join you all for the Friday eve swim so that could help clarify for me. Do most people wear them or most not??

ya know what? it could go either way...i didn't wear mine last year...really short swim...water is not too cold...but some people did
wear it if you feel so inclined...you won't be "odd man out" either way...
(i just tried to look for pictures from last years race to give you a percentage, but then i remembered my husband only took video and i would have to find that)
how i would make my decision if this is not an important race for you, is by asking if you plan to wear it for your big races...practicing getting it off in an actual race situation will be beneficial if you plan olympic, half, or im distances this season...if you are only doing sprints i would probably skip it?

Danielle and I are both in for this race.
Neither of us will wear a wetsuit - just too short of a swim to make it worth the transition time. If I had to take a guess from the pictures I have from the race last year, I'd put wetsuit wearing at about 25% - so if you wear one you wouldn't be alone.
