Who is heading down to Wooster for the meet this weekend? I encourage all masters swimmers to try racing at a meet, and NOT just swimming the 1650 freestyle! If you haven't signed up yet you can always do deck entries. I will not be there on Saturday because they do all the long and boring events on Saturday On Sunday I will be swimming the 100 free, 100 breast and 200 back. Who else? Anybody want to carpool? It is a long drive down to Wooster. Alison

Alison, I'm pre registered for 5 events on Sunday, plus any relays if I'm needed. So I'll be busy. 500, 50, 100, 200 - free and 50 back. Jim, good luck on the 1650. I did this at this pool in 07 in a 28:59 and only missed 3 flip turns. Keep a consistant pace. After each turn you can "eyeball" your running time for your lane on a large digital clock on the wall. Swim comfortable. I will be swimming the short events like Jaws is chasing me! ;D

Alison, How fast do real swimmers go in a 100 free at a meet like this?

Yay, Roger! That is quite a meet line-up, I am impressed, though not surprised, as Roger is always a force to be reckoned with at these masters meets. Maybe we can race each other in the 100 free!
Kim, what exactly is a "real" swimmer? Are you some sort of "fake" swimmer? Simply, the 100 free is as fast as you can go for 4 lengths of the 25 yard pool; don't worry about comparing yourself to other people. If you REALLY have to know, all of the meet results are posted on the Ohio masters website. My goal is somewhere around a 1:02 (oh no, I said it out loud which makes it harder to attain)

Roger - thanks for the shout out - I look forward to swimming in that pool - "flip turns" that's a novel concept - I guess that's one of those things that separates "fake" swimmers from "real" swimmers
