Hi there. I ran my first marathon at Columbus in October and I don't think that I can wait until next fall to do my second. It was a great first marathon experience. I was looking at Spring marathons and the Flying Pig looks really fun. I saw the elevation map and I know that there is a real climb from miles 5 though 8. I'm the type of person who would pick a hilly race over a flat one if that means that there are spectators on the course cheering for me. (I guess that makes me a "B" runner!) So I'm thinking about traveling to Cincy in early May rather than running in the Cleveland Marathon on May 17th. My time does matter to me but so does the overall experience. (I really enjoyed the Cleveland half marathon last May but the full marathon here seems to hold no appeal for me). Anyway, does anyone out there have Pig Experience? Thoughts - let me know if you ran it or what you have heard. Thanks in advance. - Beth

Beth - I will be going to do the 1/2 - I have not run the course but have heard very good things about the race overall - My son lives in Cincy so I know the are well - the hill you are talking about is a serious hill - if you know Cincy think about Mt Adams - that said I know several people who have PR'd or BQ'd on the course

I am a Pig alum. It is a very well run race and the spectators are fabulous. The climb is a steep one and will slow you down some but the view at the top overlooking the river is awesome and worth it.
I say go for it. I may decide to do it depending on my schedule which is up in the air right now. I liked it much better than Cleveland and if you are not worried about a PR (although it is my PR) you will for sure have fun.

My wife and I are doing the 1/2 this year. It was my first 1/2 two years ago. I loved it. The hill was steep but the spectators and view make you forget it. And, it will be a night away from the 3 little ones.
