Pain in the neck (literally)

I have had some issues since the Akron marathon (that I was hoping would go away). Of course I have not been to the doctor yet, but was wondering if anyone else has had something similar.

First off I have had parts of my skin go numb on my right side, as of now it is my face but it seems to move after every long ride or run I do. This numbness is not a paralyzing type of thing, it almost feels as if I have a layer of thin cloth or film on top of my skin. I can feel when I am touching something, but it is not as sensitive as my other side.

Also, if I look down to the right my body gets this electric shock (maybe a pinched nerve?) through the right side of my body. I feel nauseated and dizzy for a few seconds and my muscles become weak, I can only describe it like being shocked through the hand and feeling that weakness that comes after.

I know, I know I should go to a doctor, but before I rake up the medical bills does anyone have an idea of what this could be or have had something similar?

Get thee to the doctor....

Do not try to self diagnose nerve related issues. A FP should be able to take care of you at a low price. It may be nothing but then again you may get quick relief.

this is definitely not a problem to be taken lightly. unfortunately I just recently found I slipped a disk in my neck and I had very similar symptoms. in my situation the disk popped out and was putting pressure on my spinal cord. you will need an MRI to diagnose this and this was biggest money item even with insurance covering 80%. I am currently going to a chiropractor for decompression therapy hoping to avoid surgery.
so I say don't delay and get this checked out.

i have had the numbness issues on my lower legs...i have no idea what it was...lasted a few months...felt like i was wearing wet socks when i walked...as in i couldn't really feel the top layers of skin sensation-wise but i felt that there was pressure if you touched them...

i hope it is nothing and goes away for you quickly...but in the meantime...get thyself to the doc!

Thanks for all the responses, I am making an appointment soon.

I was hoping that it was nothing major, but obviously should not be taken lightly. After a 2000 y swim this morning my whole arm went numb, so it seems that any repetitive workouts are not helping this condition.

I guess the only lucky thing is that I do not have extreme pain, it is more just an annoyance, especially the dizzy spells when looking down. Once I go to the doc I will update what the diagnosis is.
