Dave Miceli finished 2nd OA at the Carnation tri today. We had planned on a big time smack down today as the two of us have not gone toe to toe in over two years.
Unfortunately I used the Mark Durno "wings and a few beers" pre-race diet last night. Wings - or something - ended up laying me out with a nasty stomach virus so I was a no show
Dave had a great race. Solid swim, 4th off the bike and then he proceeded to hammer out a 38ish' 10k. Good thing I was a DNS 'cause this cat was a flyin' out there today
Well done, Dave and big time congrats
There is always 'next time' for the smack down!

Mark and Rob........
Thanks for the nice words. This venue is really nice and surprisingly (at least this year) attracted very low numbers of participants....maybe 50 for the triathlon...maybe.
Anyhow, this race is really cool and at a cost of 35bucks.....well, who can beat that? The swim is a solid 1000meters and it is a mass start. The bike is point to point on various roads and it seems like you are working up a slight grade most of the time for the 27miles - the course is well marked and well marshalled. The run takes place in the city streets of Alliance - it is an undulating course and again its well marked and well marshalled. I would highly encourage anyone to go and support this race........particularly if your fond of subway sandwiches...the post-race food:-)

I'm guessing Vermillion "stole" some of their business. Too bad they are the same weekend because they are both really good events. I'm a big fan of the Subway post race meal.
Dave - nice work - you are a beast out there these days !
Mark - sorry about your luck... gotta be careful with those wings...

I agree this is a great local race and a huge bargain for the bucks. Congrats to dave and the other members who were there. The course was well marked and staffed and I'll be there next year..hopefully the south winds will stay away.

I was a little weary about finding my shoes for the run after I threw them in a bag and tossed em in a big pile but sure enough the were there along with all my swim gear, the only thing they didn't do is put baby powder in them for me (i bet the would have if i asked em to). This was my first time there and I loved it, I'm not sure if it is better or worse than vermillion but at $35 it was a good deal. Does anyone know if there is a complete list of results?

Hey Dave congrats dude. You are a testament to how preparation and hard work translates into success. You are also one of the best on this forum willing to share your knowledge with others regardless of level or experience.
I would have love to see the Gorris/Miceli duel as Mark is in the same category in all the above areas.
