I had been planning on participating in the Lighthouse Tri, but now that I found out about this Tin Man Tri (which is closer to my home, too) I'm not sure which to try out. ?? Has anyone tried the Lighthouse Tri? If so, how does it compare? thanks! Answering a question on the "Newbie" thread about the Tinman... Fairport is a good race. It's run by LC Metroparks and is fairly well organized. Cheap. I think its still $20 (or, about five gallons). Swim course is very forgiving. Shallow and within the Fairport breakwall. Not too variable. Water is pretty warm, too, due to proximity of nuclear power plant. (RD and First Energy assume no responsibility for corpular luminosity post race). Bike and run are pancake flat, except for a couple of waffle-like dips in the road. Very very popular newbie race.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The Tin Man 2008 has been cancelled...
May 22, 2008; The Tin Man Triathlon scheduled for July 27, 2008 at the Chagrin Valley Athletic Club (CVAC) has been canceled. "We sincerely regret canceling the event this year," says Jim Rosenberger President of CVAC. "The combination of a late start announcing the event and scheduling conflicts has left us little choice but to cancel this years Tin Man." All those registered to date will be have their fees refunded.
Thanks for the information Matt. Looks like my race decision for July 27th has been made for me based on the above info. See you all in Fairport for the Lighthouse Tri!

Maybe it was cancelled for the $65.00 registration fee.
Make it a couple of weeks earlier to not conflict with other established local races and make the entry fee reasonable for a sprint.
