If you are pressed for time and need to choose between a bike workout and a run, which is the better choice overall?
I thought I read somewhere that running will make you a stronger cyclist, but cycling will not make you a better runner. So choose the run if it comes down to a crunch.
I thought I read it here but couldn't find the thread. Thanks in advance!

If you're time crunched on a particular day, I say try to do whatever is your weakness. If you are really time crunched, you can get a more solid workout in a short run than a short bike. (I'm talking <1 hour)
However, globally if you are just a time-crunched person I think balance of the 3 sports is what will make you the better triathlete. Running more will make you a better runner, but I'm not sure that I buy that it will make you that much better of a cyclist. Time in the saddle makes you a better cyclist. And if you don't build bike endurance you're going to run like crap anyway (especially in the longer races).
Just my .02

*edited to add* If you are new to training then you will see fitness gains from running alone (or riding or swimming), which will translate somewhat to all the sports. If you are already really fit I think that is when it breaks down and you don't see the gains in the other sports
