Hello,
For the last two years, I helped out at an aid station for the marathon portion of the Ironman at Lake Placid. The location was ideal (on Mirror Lake drive), because you could see the competitors going by twice on the bike and four times on the run. Also, you got to see the pros up close and personal and maybe hand them water, GU, etc. Next, it was an amazing feeling to help people out when they needed it the most. Finally, it was a nice way to pass the time in between sitings of Matt.
I will not be at Lake Placid this year, because Matt and I are racing in California instead (he's doing the full Vineman and I'm doing the half attached to the race).
For those of you who will be racing at Lake Placid, if you have any family members that would be willing to assist at an aid station for a four-hour time block, let me know. Just e-mail me at srl2w@yahoo.com and I will hook you up with the captain of the Boathouse aid station. Apparently, he desperately needs volunteers, because many of his regulars (like me) can't make it this year.
Thanks!
