Anyone planning on heading out for this ride this Sunday the 11th?
I was walking my dog last night and see they have been busy marking the course!

Hi Janet
I think that I'll probably do that. I'd love to ride with you! Can I register on Sunday?

Samantha, Matt and I will also be there. Sam and I are doing the 62 mile course, while Matt is opting for the 100 mile one. Yes, you can register on Sunday starting at 7 AM. I did this ride last year and would recommend it!
After the ride, we are considering going for an open water swim at Punderson Park. You are welcome to join us.

Sounds great Jodi! Glad you are going to be able to make!
I am signed up for the 62 mile ride which starts at 8. According to the website, http://www.clevelandtouringclub.org./sij_body06.htm, you can sign up raceday anytime after 7AM. Ride to start at 8 AM! Weather looks good and I am looking forward to the ride!

I'm going to shoot to get there between 7 and 7:15. If anyone wants to carpool down there, my car can hold 4 bikes fairly comfortably and I don't mind swinging around to pick people up.
See you tomorrow!
;D

Here's a word of wisdom, don't try riding a century with a stomach bug. Something hit me this weekend, laid me flat much of Saturday with a fever, soreness and...uh...frequent bathroom trips. The fever and soreness were gone Sunday morning, so I thought I'd give the SIJ century a try. Bad idea. The stomach was still not right. I felt great for about the first hour, then I basically bonked. My stomach was making gurgling noises and I couldn't even stand the thought of eating. Thankfully, Jen and Sam caught me at the 35-mile rest area and I rode the remainder of the 62-mile route with them. The girls had an awesome ride, btw. Sam ticked off her first metric and Jen rode like a pro. So strong!

You know it had to be a bad stomach bug, because I accidentally kept dropping Matt as I attempted to allow him an easier ride off my wheel. This is the man who averages over 19mph at Lake Placid for 112 miles! It shows how the lack of any nutrition will sap a person's stamina and strength.
I am proud of Sam for going the distance (her longest yet)! She even tackled the big hill at the end that had most of the riders walking up it.

62 Miles on a bumb stomach is still one heck of a long way. Nice job Matt! Jen & Sam...way to finish strong on the ride and the hill at the end. Some dude was trying to con Jodi & I into climbing it a second time because he had not got a picture the first time...funny!!
I rode with Jodi the whole way and the ride went really well, despite some bumps taking out my gatorade. We even managed to skip the port-o-potty lines and hit the bathroom at my house which was the added bonus of living in Parkman! This ride will definitely be one my calendar next year!!

Congrats to everyone who did the ride! It was a gorgeous day out, and despite the silly hills I need to work on, I enjoyed riding with my buddy!
Matt--glad to hear you're feeling better! Maybe next time we can stop and go for a quick sky-dive? ;D
