Great job everyone!
I am so glad that I decided to do the half instead of the 10K. It was a great experience. Finished at 1:58.14. Considering I've never run anywhere near that far before I am very happy with that.
Special thanks to Elizabeth! Just when I was starting to fade at mile 11 she picked up my spirits and pace ;D

Great job Jodi! I wish I did the half too. Just kidding (kind of). That wind coming back on Marginal during the last part of the full marathon was brutal. Suzi, Sam and I persevered though. Suzi finished under 4:09 and Sam and I came in just over 4:41. We may have cursed the wind gusts, but we never walked and never hit "the wall". I'm quite proud of us. We were shooting for 4:30, but given the conditions, I'll take the 4:41 and run with it. (Pun intended) Thanks to Elizabeth too for running with us 3 times! Alan joined us for a little while right at that critical 20-mile mark. Paul came out on his bike after the half-marathon and it was nice to see his smiling face out on the course. Aimee (Eric's wife) was the 4:45 pacer and she helped us make it through that last mile (there was extra cursing when the wind that was supposed to be at our back gusted in our face again - got to love Cleveland, but she just talked us through it). Special thanks to my wonderful husband who not only chauffeured me there at an ungodly hour, but also he rode all over the course. I think we saw his smiling, cheering face at least 10 times! We needed that for sure! Hope everyone had a great day! Call me "Lurch" for the next couple of days. ;D Jen P.S. I saw that Dave Miceli finished under 3:17. Great job!

I did think of you all morning and wondered how you were doing (while driving in my warm car . Pat yourselves on the back- you did FANTASTIC! Elizabeth, how do you find all of us CTC members on the course? You're GOOD! Ya know, if you keep this up, we will all come to EXPECT you to show up in our time of need. I know I'm doing the Chicago 1/2 in September...can you meet me around mile 10 or 11? Kidding Carly

Well, today was a perfect day in my opinion in terms of the weather. Unfortunately for me, my time was not as planned as I was shooting for a 3:10.59 at worst and ended up a bit under 3:17. I was on pace until 20 and then the wheels came flying off but, I knew they would at mile 18 so it wasnt a surprise - just painfull and a bit discouraging. Oh well, Columbus will be better - much better.
Congrats to Lou Dregely with a 3rd place overall finish in the half whipping down a 6:02 pace. Also congrats to Mark Gorris with a finish a bit under 3:11 for the full. And of course great job to everyone today for showing up and putting their best foot forward. I look forward to the upcoming tri season and I can't wait to start to run long again.

Congratulations to everyone, particularly the three ladies I tracked throughout the morning:
Suzi, who ran her first marathon. Sam, who ran her first as well. My beautiful wife Jen, who ran her second yesterday, and improved more than a half hour from her first marathon in 2004!
I had fun chasing you guys around Cleveland on my bike.

I saw a lot of names I recognize in the PD this morning. Nice work - especially given the elements. md

Everyone did a great job yesterday! That wind was brutal! I got some fun pics that I will pass along to our webmaster. Sorry I missed you Dave you must have been in that big 3:10 crowd at 10 miles.
Alan's got a great story about helping out the lead lady over on his blog!
I was able to help out Tim by grabbing his jacket and shirt lol I was petrified the rest of the morning that he would get hypothermia later in the race.
If I spotted you I probably have a pic of you and will try to email it to you later!

Congratulations everyone! I was a spectator yesterday (my first time being a marathon spectator) and it was a great race! Jodi ~ I probably saw you cross the finish line. I was there around 8:50am because my sister was on pace to finish around 9:15am and I wanted to take her picture as she finished. I was the one on the runners' left with the obnoxious cowbell. Matt C ~ Were you actually on the course with your bike? I saw a bunch of cyclists on the course, but I didn't see anything indicating they were race volunteers.

Congrats to all! I took pix of some TNT people, including some faces I recognized from CTC's website. Don't really know who they are. If you recognize anyone, let them know. They are posted at photos.yahoo.com/jskhare. If anyone wants high res, let me know and I can email them.

Great job to everyone racing this weekend!!! Those were some tough conditions out there. Since it was mentioned, I'll quickly recount my encounter with the lead woman runner here. Elizabeth and I were camped out at around mile 10. As the leaders were coming by we saw and cheered them on. We noted the lead woman and saw she was openly distraught. She looked over and cried something like: "I can't get my gel open." So I took off after her and finally caught up to her. She passed me her gel. I was trying to keep pace with her and haven't practiced opening gels on the dead run in a while. So I fumbled a bit, but after a few paces I was able to rip the top off her vanilla Clif Shot. We were coming up on GLBC, so I offered her a shot of Jameson too. (Just kidding) She thanked me and went speeding off. Talk about a fan interactive event!!! You folks are more than welcome check out my ramblings, but it would be a bit much to have you sift through my blog for a short story. qcmier.blogspot.com/

I just want to echo the congrats that are going out there! It was so awesome to see the CTC'ers in full force. Elizabeth and Alan win the cheerleader awards for the day--you guys rock! I got to pace the first half of 4:45 and had a wonderful experience. If you want to see my recap I wrote it here: trisaratopsimadventure.blogspot.com/2006/05/race-day-from-very-different.htmlMy running buddy Pat took some great pics--including the one of Amy Winters who shattered the record for amputees in a marathon. Talk about inspiring.... What an amazing and memorable day!

Hi ALW: Read you post about the gu and the lead women - FYI for future - if you aid an elite on the course it could get them disqualified - they can only take water/drinks from the tables - no outside help or coaching - seems unlikely, but with big prize money protests do get filed. Cheer and support - just no added advantages for the leaders. Michelle

Michelle - Very good FYI
Also, you used big prize and I mistakenly thought you meant Cleveland (LOL).....You must of been talking about the 10K.

Michelle, Thanks for the reminder. I guess I got caught up in the heat of the moment and couldn't refuse to help a damsel in distress. I know USATriathlon has some pretty strict rules about outside assistance too. But since I am not an elite or race a lot of high profile races, the rules aren't always in grained.
