I only have a few moments to post some thoughts. I have to say, I am feeling good about trying to finally dust off my lazy bones and get healthy again but as I begin this Tri-journy, I am having some crazy thoughts... I have never had a real "road-bike" , and I look forward to learning all I can from the club members to get to a level of safe riding abilities, but the thing that comes to mind right now as I get used to my bike is that it feels like I am riding a 2"*6" suspended between 2 poker chips!. Man these tires are narrow!! Also, It seems as if every day of training I think, " The run is going to be my tough event.. The swim is going to be my tough event.. and so on and so on..
All that said, I am happy that I am going to give this a shot and will meet some of you in the near future I am sure.
As for the "Red Menace",as I have learned club members are described, I was driving down Detroit Ave. on T.hurs around 1100 hrs and saw a member of the CTC riding Eastbound on Detroit near Century Cycles... For some reason, that was pretty motivating..
Be safe all, Chuck z

Just keep on plugging along Chuck. Triathlon is a fun and rewarding experience and this club is full of fabulous folks who are willing to help. They are also a lot of fun so get to as many club events as you can. I joined last year and have really gotten a lot of help and met some great people.
Congratulations on dusting off your lazy bones. It is great to be healthy and in shape.

Charlie,
Good luck with the training and enjoy your events. None of the events are overly easy and they all can seem tough at times.....even for the most conditioned athletes...i.e. pros. Anyhow, that is the beauty of your event and when you finish, you know that you have accomplished a great thing. I really believe that just stepping up to that line and having the courage to do this sport makes us all winners, whether you finish or not. So, enjoy your events and have fun.....don't worry about the events in particular as it may seem overwhellming...just move forward and hope for the best. Take care and see you around.
