Anyone can join me for a open-water swim at Mentor Headlands this Saturday, June 17th. Format will focus on sighting and swim form with the last 500yrds being race-simulation. I am planning on starting at 10am but am flexible for anyone that needs a different time. If anyone is interested, please post here so that we can form a solid meeting time. I plan on swimming the Greater Cleveland course about 3x's so this 1650yrd workout can be tallored to anyones needs. Each time we exit the water, plan on practicing a swim/T1 transition without actually getting on a bike. We will then backtrack and repeat the course. Tentative format will be to break up swim into 3 parts with the first 1/3 focus on sighting/swim form - next 1/3 on medium tempo w/ less sighting and last 1/3 you can perform a race simulation at your own race pace. After everyone exits, we'll go back at it......this should be a nice and very focused workout lasting up to a few hours. Hope to see everyone there!!

Oh yeah - there is a possibilty that I may cycle the Sprint course afterwards but I am still up in the air on this one as I'm racing the Lions duathlon this Sunday.

I'm interested depending on whether our single automobile is available. I have a message in to the primary driver as to whether or not she will be needing it later Saturday morning.
I'll edit this post once I know more...
Good call on practicing wetsuit removal, I'm a little rusty.

I will be there at 10am. It's been a while since I've been to Headlands, where will we be meeting - landmark, parking lot, picnic area?

Park and meet at Parking lot #17. It is a favorite for us triathletes!
Brian, I won't be swimming, but will be finishing my bike ride while you guys are swimming. Hope to get to meet you and others then!

Look forward to meeting you, Jen. Met Matt a few weeks ago at Bike Authority (although I think we met a couple years ago?). I'll be the one wearing black-n-gold and drinking an Arn. I may even have to take my annual bath after swimming in Lake Erie! Dave, is your riding the Sprint course for a workout or recon? You said you were racing in Willoughby on Sunday and I am, too. I may ride with you tomorrow.

Dave,
I plan on joining you for the swim workout Saturday. I will bring one of the clubs bike racks for a complete T1. I am also going to ride the sprint course 2 times at whatever the pace of others will be.
Since I am driving up from Akron I am going to do an 8-9:30 yoga class in Beachwood. Can we move the start time to 10:15 am?

Hey everyone........sorry for taking so long but I was working late tonight.
David - Take your time and we'll wait for you.
So far, I'll be there at 10 and will be meeting Brian, Colleen and David. I plan on riding the Sprint course as a workout at a moderate pace unless the group dictates otherwise - either slower or faster. See ya all there at 10am.

Hey everyone......thanks again for coming out to the swim today. Special thanks to AndrewJoyce who showed us the beauty of 'out and backs.' Also, it was very nice to see Eric and Colleen - very nice to meet both of you. Thanks to Pam Kent for helping with the sighting and swimming techniques aswell. Thanks to David H. and Brian A. for showing up aswell. There was some talk of making this a regular event of which I would love to do.....next week I'll be in Columbus for Alum Creek but will love to do this workout again the following weekends. Take care everyone and happy training/racing!!

Thanks Dave M. for putting this workout together. Nice to have have met you, Andrew, Colleen, Pam, & Eric, and good to see you again Dave H. Also good to have met Jen, Samantha, Stacey, and Suzi after their brick in the parking lot. I will miss the training day this Saturday in favor of preparing for FRR's Alum Creek triathlon on Sunday, but look forward to doing a swim up there again soon.
