Hello I am new to the sport, did one sprint last year. I signed up for the Vineyard sprint around Columbus on May 27. I just recently thought that the water may be a little chilly. Is a wet suit required for a swim in Columbus at the end of May. If yes, may I ask a few questions 1) Where do I start to look for one? 2) Should I look at a long sleeve or a short sleeve 3) One piece or two 4) To the knee or the ankle 5) How much should I expect to pay?

These are all great questions. They obviously have a benefit in your swim perfomance, a personal choice.
1. I would start at Bike Authority 2. This is a personal preference. I actually have both and love the benefits of either one. 3. This all depends on your body structure. There are many people who fit perfect into a one piece. A two piece allows the flexibility of getting as close to perfect fit as possible. This also allows you to go as I did with a sleeveless and long sleve. I personally own a DeSoto T1 First Wave long sleeve and there black pearl sleeveless. 3. Personal preference 4. Any where from 150.00-400.00, this depends on the quality and the brand.

i wouldn't buy a wetsuit just to do a sprint...if you have a real interest in the sport and can see yourself really getting into it, then it would make more sense...
but again, it's only a sprint - most people won't even bother with a wetsuit for a sprint...unless you're a really nervous swimmer and you want that security...the time and energy it takes to get it off usually isn't worth the tradeoff...
don't be afraid to try ebay (if you aren't ready to spend the big bucks and go new)...i got a really great long sleeve quintana roo off ebay for about $100...but i had already tried on several different kinds and got an idea of what size i needed...i asked alot of questions of the seller...(his height and weight etc.)...and ask why they're selling it!...
the guy i got mine from said it fit great except the torso was a little short on him - great for me!...i figured he's an inch taller, about ten pounds heavier and a guy (usually = longer torso) - it's gonna fit me great - and it does!
the upside is - you'll probably be able to resell it on ebay without much loss if it turns out it's not quite right...
good luck in columbus!!!
