Well, just because it is the off season, it doesn't mean we still can't get together to train and be social. Our next newbies get together will be a run from Sweet Water Landing in Rocky River Reservation (just off of Valley Parkway and just south of Detroit road by the marina) on Sunday, November 13 at 8:30 AM. We'll plan for an out and back run on the paved Metropark trails. Let's plan to go for 45 minutes to an hour. If you'd like to go for less time, that is totally fine too. Just turn around earlier and we'll meet back at the parking lot. This is an out and back on paved trails, so no one will get lost. And, of course, we will leave no one behind! After the run, lets go up to the Einstein Brothers' Bagel shop in Rocky River for bagels, coffee and camaraderie. ;D E-mail me at ctcnewbies@yahoo.com if you have any questions. Also, if you could RSVP, that would be dandy, so I know I won't be running alone. Hope to see you soon! Jen P.S. Former newbies are welcome to join us to share your experiences!

Hey Jen,
Is the training run still on (putting my November schedule together)? I might join the run with my wife if that is ok. Thanks, Fred

Hope you don't mind, but I need to change the run time to 8:30 AM. I have a Team in Training obligation at 11 AM and don't want to rush the bagels, coffee and camaraderie part.
Oh, and the official meeting spot will be by the picnic shelter. Just keep going straight until it dead ends after you turn off of Valley Parkway.
Any questions? E-mail me! I look forward to seeing you soon!
Thanks, Jen

Would love to join in on this but I'm lucky to have my daughter on Sunday mornings. Put in a 17 miler today, though, so I'm not slacking off. :-)
Have a great run everyone and I can't wait to meet you!

Jen,
What a great turn out! It was a lot of fun and it was great to meet everybody. Sorry I could not stay for breakfast.
We should make it a regular event...especially with the amount of people planning on running the Cleveland Marathon....just a thought. Thanks again, Fred

Man, we were all talking about you skipping breakfast.........lol
I gotta agree that the run was tons of fun and the turnout was terrific. I agree that we should have some more of these if it works for everyone else.
It was great to meet all of you - again- but my memory sucks. Good luck to everyone in the 1/2 this weekend......I'm still 50/50 on it myself. Watching everyone run - I'm sure you'll all do terrific.

Dave,
What did your onboard computer ( ;D) record as far as distance? Just curious...

It recorded 9.23 miles - that included 2.0 that I did before we started. So, I'm guessing you ran 8.0-8.5 since you went a bit farther then the rest of us. The mile we ran together (well 0.5 of it) ended up being 6:37.
Just to remind anyone about the Garmin forerunner 301 - check it out on GPSdiscount.com.

It was a great turnout. Thanks to Mark, Dave, Fred, Carly, Kate, Matthew, Sam and Suzi for joining me this morning! Dave, although I'm sure many were cursing you for suggesting it, that last .25 mile up the hill to Detroit Road made me feel that I earned my bagel! I'd love to get together more often, but I'm sure I can't keep the pace with you guys. We could always meet for the out and back run and go for breakfast afterward. Would you be willing to come out east every once in awhile for a change of scenery and to ease my driving? Thanks again for running with me yesterday! Jen

Jen ,
Most definitley...East...West...South...North (maybe not North ;D). The format was nice... We can start together and those of us who want to push further or harder can add a couple of faster miles after the turnaround point. As long as we meet around a specific time at the finish point and have breakfast!(Dave...that would be your first breakfast). Fred

Well Jen, as I remember I offered it and would not of done it, but you gladly accepted the challenge. It was a very nice way to end the run...thanks for making me push myself. I also feel I earned my bagel as-well as the feast of a breakfast that I had about 1hr later.....I'm a pig on Sundays.
Also, I would love to meet up with everyone again as I throughly enjoyed the outing. I think that we had some very nice paces throughout the group. I think this is a great way to help everyone in the group improve so, we should meet up again. I have a terrific 6 mile hill loop - both up and down on the east-side. It is mostly road but has a bit of the Towpath included. Let me know and thanks again everyone for the great run.
