Please hold the date of Thursday, August 11 for our next Newbies session. I haven't figured out all of the details for when, where and what yet, but will post it here and on the Newbies page soon.
If you have a preference as to activity or location, please post here or e-mail me at ctcnewbies@yahoo.com. I am leaning towards an open water swim with question/answer session before and/or after out at the Mentor Headlands in preparation for the GCT race that weekend. Let me know your thoughts. I live practically downtown and do work downtown, so can go about anywhere to meet.
Hope to see you soon,
Jen

Well, I haven't received any suggestions, so I'll just put it out there. We'll meet at 6:30 PM at parking lot #17 at the Mentor Headlands for an open water practice with a question/answer session after.
If you plan to attend, please post here or e-mail me at ctcnewbies@yahoo.com. Suzi will be attending our rowing team practice, so I will not have guaranteed company.
See you soon!

Headlands is perfect for me, because I live in Mentor anyway. I will plan on being there.

I will be there to help out. I met some one at my swim workout today who just started doing tri's. I was telling her about the club and she might come up to check it out. See you Thursday

Last night's training session went very well. Lake Erie presented a wavy ride, but we all fared quite well. Ron, Sam, Dave, Pam, Nikki and Kathy, thanks for coming out!
Kathy wins our "travel the farthest" award. She came all the way from Canton to join us. She asked me if there were any good open water spots near Canton and the only thing I could think of was Munroe Falls (which is more near Akron). Can the Cantonians out there help me answer her question? (You'd think I know, because I grew up there, but I never swam as a kid.)
Don't forget about the next newbies session on August 26 at Hinckley led by Becky. She's going to take you through a 15-mile bike ride followed by a 3-mile run. Got to love the bricks! It will be a great tune-up prior to the September races.
As always, if you have any questions, just drop me an e-mail or post your question on the forum.
