Does any one use the "Power Lung" for training ??http://www.powerlung.com/us/en/ Or any of the similar devices ? What were the results? Bob P

If you want my opinion, don't get the Powerlung. I do not believe that there is any clear benefit in the use of resistive devices to increase lung function other than in those with significant lung disease i.e. COPD. If you want more info feel free to contact me. The reason I don't think this is an effective tool is that at optimal exercise those of us with normal lung function use only 40% of the maximal ventilatory ability. In those whose lungs are severely damaged then they may use significantly more. In short we were blessed with an excess in lung capacity. Furthermore the powerlung doesn't inherently increase our ability to increase the total amount of volume in our lungs (that's a function of genetics, height, race, etc.). There a whole lot of things wrong about the first study (that's the only one I read) but most of it would be somewhat boring.
