Tapering
When ? How Long? what percentage reduction?
the week before the race schedule.
Any thoughts? , theories? suggestions?

Depends on the race. Sprint, Oly, Half, Full, marathon, half marathon... all have different taper schedules.

Im no expert, but i wouldnt bother with a taper for a sprint. Just take the day off before.

For a sprint, I normally take friday off and do a very short bike/run on saturday. I follow that by stretching a bit. In general I find it tough to take a full day off on the eve of a race. I jogged 1.5 miles the day before IM.
