have a problem with those who have an agenda and twist things in the name of sicence to fit what they already want it to be. Well, then it's NOT science. It's something else. That is my point. I think there is more of " something else" than science mike

To the extent that Al Gore - his tactics and his personal history - are turning people off, that is truly a shame. But I think we can separate the man from the message. I don't agree with everything the NRA does, or has done, or the way it does it, but I still think people should be allowed to own guns. And I still think Ben Hur was a pretty good epic movie. Matt this explains the spoke shredding spikes on your tri bike and gun mounts on your aero bars. And I knew somehow this was all Rob R's fault.

If you and your family were living on the melting ice shelf I feel you would be whistling a different tune.

I do not watch any TV and rarely look at any media Never had cable and do not waste time with the media. you presume alot since all I have done is question the source of supposed science and have stated that I know global warming is coming. mike

It was windy and chilly in Mentor this morning in Mentor for the GCT training ride so I have decided to leave my car running all night tonight in an effort to "warm things up more quickly"

Mike, "you presume alot since all I have done is question the source of supposed science and have stated that I know global warming is coming." Can you elaborate on the coming of global warming?? yes I believe that it will get so bad that most of the trees and grass and plant life will die. I believe there will be worldwide famine. I believe the effects of the sun will cause a huge outbreak of skin cancer. I believe it will become a hell on earth. my only question who the source is and how soon it will be. mike

Although the thought of not having to cut the grass is appealing.

Social institutions will be long gone, and most of the handful of humans left will be roaming the burned-out landscape in packs of lawless cannibals. And I'll lead my young son on a perilous, cross-country journey...

Watchdog: NASA censored on warming Inspector general report cites public affairs officials in incidents The Associated Press updated 7:01 p.m. ET, Mon., June. 2, 2008
WASHINGTON - NASA's press office "marginalized or mischaracterized" studies on global warming between 2004 and 2006, the agency's own internal watchdog concluded.
In a report released Monday, NASA's inspector general office called it "inappropriate political interference" by political appointees in the press office. It said that the agency's top management wasn't part of the censorship, nor were career officials.
NASA downplayed the report as old news on a problem that has since been fixed. NASA spokesman Michael Cabbage said the space agency's new policies have now been hailed for openness by the U.S. Government Accountability Office.
The report found credence in allegations that National Public Radio was denied access to top global warming scientist James Hansen. It also found evidence that NASA headquarters press officials canceled a press conference on a mission monitoring ozone pollution and global warming because it was too close to the 2004 presidential election.
In addition, the report detailed more than a dozen other actions in which it said the NASA public affairs office unilaterally edited or downgraded press releases having to do with global warming or denied access to scientists.
NASA public affairs officials criticized by the report called it wrong, saying they were always open and truthful.
Not so, according to the report. The report did not directly accuse them of lying, but used more nuanced terms such as "mendacity" and "dissembling." The space agency complained those terms were unjust.
The report concluded that "inappropriate political posturing or advantage" was behind some of these actions.
NASA and the Bush administration instantly drew criticism as a result of the report.
"Our government's response to global warming must be based on science, and the Bush administration's manipulation of that information violates the public trust," said Sen. Frank R. Lautenberg, D-N.J.
Mark Bowen, who wrote a book on NASA and Hansen, faulted the report's finding that NASA administrator Michael Griffin and the White House weren't involved in manipulation.
"So many honest people inside NASA and out have demonstrated censorship has occurred," Bowen said.
In its response, NASA's legal office noted that the report showed that actual research on global warming was not interfered with, and that neither NASA senior management nor other senior administration officials were involved.
"The legitimate conclusions ... are those that NASA has already acknowledged and has long since fixed," deputy counsel Keith Sefton wrote in response.
NASA's former press secretary, Dean Acosta, who was accused of telling underlings that there were "too many" global warming news releases, denied manipulations.
"My entire career has been dedicated to open and honest communications," said Acosta, now a spokesman for aerospace giant Boeing Co. "The inspector general's assertions are patently false."
NASA's overall head of public affairs, David Mould, who was also criticized, said the report "got a number of things wrong... I didn't see things that were politically influenced." But Mould also pointed to changes in policy he made after the allegations first came out in 2006, saying "I'm proud of the improvements we made."

I know we all have been anxious to open up this debate again So, I would like to say that I understand why you might not want to take what Al Gore says to heart (he was Clinton's vice president after all), but maybe you'll agree with T. Boone Pickens (yep, the Texas oil man). Read for yourselves..... www.pickensplan.com/about/*note: Pickens is a republican who has given very generously to republican pres. candidates (including our current president) and was a supporter of Rudy Giuliani in this primary. Just something to think about....

Make sense. This shouldn't be a partisan issue, but Gore being Gore....it became one. Shame.

Just something to think about.... I agree with T Boone on developing alternative sources of energy and I am sure he will make some nice profits on it like a good capitalist. Different issue than Al Gores fantasy. I also have read that this grid they are talking about developing to transmit the electricity developed by windpower to the highly populated states from where the wind is will take approximately 25 years. Still a worthy project but not going to solve the problem quickly. Move over polar bears while we back this oil rig in.
