Ben
I did not mention Republican or Democrat.
I was addressing principles that are true no matter who applies them.
I also did not say whenther i thought they would be followed.
I think the answer goes far deeper than politics.

I know this Ben, which is why I refuse to really engage. I'd rather have fine with this.

Ben I agree that politicians as a whole are big money wasters and both parties are out of control with our money. What I don't agree with is the premise that it will just continue this way ad nauseum. It can't. We cannot keep adding entitlement after entitlement. We need term limits and make our representatives live under the laws they enact not like royalty.
I think Change is coming. And it better be both parties. Bush presided over big spending yes, but who was submitting the budgets that have really exploded the situation? The Democratic Congress - including Barack Obama who then with complete control has been the proverbial drunken sailor ever since. He complained that he inherited the deficit as if it was such a terrible thing, and then proceeded to quadruple it. Bottom line is he inherited what he helped to create from the spending to the irresponsible lending to anyone who could fog a mirror. It is both parties that created the current situation not George Bush.
It cannot go on like this forever.

If I were permitted to ban one topic from this forum - it would be "political" threads. Every 2 years they pop back up again (about the same time that candidates pollute the airwaves with "negative" campaign attack ads and their respective constituents start vomitting at the mouth about how "their party knows what is best for the country."
Political Amnesia - I love that comment Ben as it hammers the point home perfectly.
This is all I am going to say on this thread. I know it won't die until after November. I also know it will be re-born again in 2012 - in all likelihood by the same guilty parties that started this one / and kept it rolling long after its usefulness (if it had any to begin with) had expired.

One great thing about this country is freedom. Which includes the freedom to not read what you find boring or somehow not worth your time. Banning others from stating views in a non triathlon related board doesn't seem right to me just because you aren't interested. What exactly is the big deal? People stating their opinions is a chance for us all to learn from listening to opposing viewpoints. I agree we do not want personal attacks. And I happen to know lots of people enjoy these exchanges as they have told me so.
Voicing an opinion is not a bad thing to me. Yes discussions get passionate sometimes when people disagree strongly. I have also seen triathlon related threads that became heated and even pretty nasty on a couple of occasions. Not good but it happens. But most of it is good natured debate amongst friends and many times educational so I really don't see the need for any censorship.
My two cents. Which as you know I will never hesitate to offer as a loud and proud "guilty party". ;D
